Johnson C. Smith - Mosaic Village

The Project

Developed on a former brownfield site, this mixed-use project was designed to provide student housing for Johnson C. Smith University.

Charlotte, North Carolina, USA
Designwall 2000

The primary challenge was to take a residence hall, a building type that typically has a lot of overbearing repetition, and compose a dynamic design that tells the story of the historic West End through a connection with Jazz music. The Kingspan panels unique detailing and aesthetics allowed us to compose the architectural notes of this jazz song in a clear and precise way.
