At Kingspan, we are committed to operating a sustainable business that delivers sustainable products and solutions. With this in mind, we have pledged to continually advance and hone sustainable business practice across seven key areas.

Energy & Carbon

We are on our way to becoming a Net Zero Energy company by 2020. As part of this commitment, we have joined RE100, a collection of companies that have publically committed to sourcing 100% renewable energy across their operations by 2020. In 2016, our renewable energy use reached 57%, beating our halfway target. This meant that we were named for a second successive year on The Climate “A” List by CDP, the international not-for-profit that measures environmental impact of thousands of companies around the world.

Waste & Water

We aim to minimize waste and water usage associated with the manufacture, distribution and end of life management of our products. As a proportion of inputs into our operations, water is small compared to other resources. Water use from rainwater harvesting is expected to rise when intended rainwater harvesting systems are installed in the coming years.

Waste is addressed by our ISO 14001 Environmental management system as part of our continues process to “reduce, reuse and recycle”. Thanks to significant efforts in this area we are working towards a “zero waste to landfill manufacturing process” across North America.

Supply Chain

We actively engage with our supply chain to ensure that they operate to similar sustainability standards. We require our suppliers to achieve appropriate levels of quality, speed, dependability, flexibility and cost.

We strive to have all of our suppliers accredited to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001, which cover quality, environmental and health and safety management systems.

Product Innovation

Product innovation is an important part of our business, we are constantly working to improve our products and solutions to create comfortable, energy-efficient and visually impactful buildings. We are constantly improving the insulation technology that forms the core of every single insulated panel, as well as constantly developing our product offering.

Product Lifecycle

We ensure that sustainability is at the core of our product lifecycle, from design through to disposal. As a leader in sustainable business, we are committed to providing sustainable solutions to the property market. This is enforced as a top priority by senior managers and directors throughout the products’ life cycle, from cradle-to-grave, in all countries.

We minimize waste, harmful emmissions and water usage associate with the manufacture, distribution and, where possible, the end-of-life management of our systems and solutions.

Employees

We encourage innovation, participation and engagement from ‘bottom up’ as well as ‘top down’ which gives employees a sense of belonging that enhances commitment and loyalty. Some employees have worked with us for over 30 years, primarily as a result of our work system and culture. We support our people and ensure they are fully engaged with our sustainability commitments.

Stakeholders & Community

We are highly committed to making positive impacts in the communities we operate by engaging with them and supporting local projects and charities. This involvement can be seen across all geographies. We form close links with local schools and community groups, including site visits and educational talks. There is a company policy to source goods and services locally wherever possible.
