The Kingspan RW Pitched Roof System is a versatile, high performance roofing solution for many building applications that’s both energy and cost efficient. The insulated panels are suitable for roof or wall applications.

KS1000 RW panels are roof panels with a surface trapezoidal sheet designed for sloping roofs on all building structures that contain a slope of 4 ° (resp. 6 ° for multiple rows above each other). These panels can be combined with KS1000 PC or KS1000 PC Double Skin translucent panels.

Core thickness 25, 40, 50, 60, 80, 100, 120 and 160 mm.

The KS1000 RW roof panel with trapezoidal profile of the upper sheet is fixed by the standard method of visible anchoring. The panel is suitable for all types of buildings with the minimum slope of the roof structure:
  • Greater than 4 ° (7%) for roofs with one panel in the roof slope (one panel from the eaves to the ridge)
  • Greater than 6 ° (10%) for the panels in multiple tiers

Manufactured panel lengths

Standard panel lengths are from 2 to 13.5 m. Panels shorter than 2 m are cut on the site. For the possibilities of supplying longer panels, contact Kingspan Customer Service.

Cut Back

If the project requires panels to be connected in the roof slope, the panels must have an overlapping means of undercutting. For this reason, the panels are already supplied at the factory with a cut-off end. All RW panels have a minimum separation of 20 mm with the removed insulation at the factory. It is, however, possible to add further cuttings lengths in the range of 20-300 mm.

Panels are ordered with the length of the subsection, and whether the subsection is on the left or right of the panel, decided prior to being placed on the roof structure.

Galvanic protection options

  • Hot-dip zinc coated steel with a total of 275 g / m2 of zinc, according to EN 10147:2000. This can be finished with a number of coatings – Polyester, Spectrum™, PVDF and Foodsafe finishes.

Substrate thicknesses

  • Standard external sheet thickness 0.50 mm.
  • Standard internal sheet thickness 0.40 mm.
  • Other thicknesses can be made available by Kingspan.

Surface treatment options - outer sheet

Standard Polyester - PES
Surface protection takes the form of a polyester varnish applied in a nominal thickness of 25 μm on a hot galvanized steel sheet. Surface treatment is suitable for common outdoor environments. This is Kingspan's standard surface finish .

Kingspan Spectrum™ is a 50μm Polyurethane, semi-gloss coated finish with a slight granular effect. It offers outstanding durability, is weather and UV-resistant, is not prone to corrosion and retains its high color & gloss characterstics. Its superior flexibility enables high resistance against damages. Kingspan Spectrum is available in a wide range of solid and metallic colours. Furthermore it is free of clorine, phtalates and plasticizers and is 100% recyclable. There are more coatings available on request.

Surface treatment options - inner sheet

Polyester inner - PEI
Polyester layer for normal indoor environments with a nominal thickness of 15 μm. The standard color is gray-white (similar to RAL 9002).

Standard Polyester - PES
Polyester is a versatile and cost-effective coating for normal indoor and outdoor use. The nominal layer is 25 μm thick.

The surface of this 150 μm thick polymer coating is non-toxic and resistant to mould. It is durable and easy to clean. It is chemically inert and safe for continuous contact with unpacked food. The standard colour is white. Please get in touch with us to discuss how we can provide other colours, and coating systems. Plain and coloured aluminium is available on a project specific basis. All longitudinal joints of the RW panels are factory fitted with an anti-condensation sealing tape on the side and a sealing tape applied in the overflow. 

The standard sealing tape in the longitudinal overlapping wool, with the butyl tape applied during the assembly, can be replaced on request or be prescribed in the implementation documentation. In case of higher steam resistance requirements (especially under higher relative humidity conditions in the interior), applying a sealant or sealing tape to the beak of the longitudinal lock on the interior side of the panel is recommended.

The connection of the panels in the transverse joint is carried out by applying a butyl sealing tape to the undercut. This tape is not included in the delivery of the panels and must be ordered separately.

IPN insulation core (PIR)

Kingspan's srong core provides better insulation.
  • Our IPN insulation core, made of closed-cell polyurethane hard foam, provides an excellent thermal conductivity (lambda value) of 0.0224 W / mK.
  • Environmentally friendly and favoured by customers, our IPN insulation core,with zero ozone depletion potential, shines. In addition, it is CFC / HCFC-free, odourless and safe
  • The rigid polyurethane foam reaction is chemically neutral, making it resistant against mould and decay.

QuadCore™  insulation core

Fire resistance

With RW sandwich panels with IPN core insulation (FIREsafe) and standard coating, there is no leakage of burning or non-burning particles.

IPN core panels have been tested, approved, and meet building regulations and standards.

Certificates and Reports

Kingspan panels are certified according to various requirements (building, fire, thermal, mechanical, static, acoustic, etc.) and under different application conditions. For more information, please contact us.

Standard packaging - road transport

In order to increase the transport capacity, RW panels are stored on polystyrene blocks on wooden pallets. The walls of the bundle are protected by foamed polystyrene boards. The entire bundle is wrapped in a polyethylene film.

The number of panels in the bundle depends on the thickness of the panels as shown in the table below. The number of panels in the bundle, longer than the standard maximum length, decreases proportionally.

The standard package height is up to 1,100 m.

Unless otherwise stated, all panels are delivered by road to the building site.
The customer is responsible for the unloading. You can find more detailed information on the transport, handling and storage of panels for delivery to the construction site in the Technical Guide or you can request it from the Kingspan Technical Department.

Unloading and handling

The consignee is obliged to ensure proper unloading according to the handling instructions available on the bundles. It is the responsibility of the transporter to enter a record of the handling method on the delivery note.

When storing and handling the panel bundles, make sure the specific instructions are followed.

To ensure the safe assembly of the panel bundles, appropriate mechanisms and aids (especially depending on the length of the panels), spacers, textile straps, etc. should be used.


When storing the panels, it is necessary to prevent the accumulation of water between them and excessive loading of the panels and to protect them against the direct effects of sunlight, rain and dust.

Assembly of panels

The procedures and instructions for mounting the panels are available from the Kingspan Technical Department. We can provide you with professional training of installation staff.
