Rooflight daylight panel


They are made of cellular polycarbonate, which is a suitable material to combine with KS1000 RW roof panels, and also offers high performance in terms of insulating properties and light.

One of the most effective ways to ensure a sufficient supply of natural daylight inside the building is to design the roofing translucent lines. Natural light in buildings ensures not only energy savings, but studies show that it has a health and concentration-enhancing effect. It improves the working climate and is positive to the health of the workers.

These translucent roof panels can be designed for roofs with a minimum slope of 6 °. PC and PC Double Skin offer excellent insulation properties (U = 2.0 to 1.09 W / m2K), high UV resistance and effective light transmission (36-65%), depending on the thickness of the polycarbonate plate.

Daylight panels can be combined with KS1000 RW roof panels. They are used for various types of industrial buildings such as factories, warehouses, hall buildings and civil construction buildings. The use of translucent panels is not suitable for environments with increased relative humidity in the interior.

Translucent panels are suitable for roofs with a slope of 6 ° (10%) and must always be placed between two KS1000 RW insulating panels, both perpendicular to the gradient and the slope.

Manufactured panel lenghts

The standard length of a PC or PC Double Skin panel is from 1m to 8m including a cutback. Panels of shorter or longer lengths can not be delivered or modified on the building.

Cut back

All panels are factory-fitted with a 175 mm cut-back. When the panels are ordered it is determined whether the undercut is on the left or the right of the panel so that the panels can be stored in a specific arrangement on the roof that is undergoing construction. Fire properties

Tests were run to evaluate whether any burning paticles would drop from ceilings soffits and roofs. The tests concluded that:

  • No hot materials burned and dripped from the mass
  • No non-burning particles fell

Notifications and definition of guarantees

The purchaser and prospective user acknowledges that the natural feature of polycarbonate light panels is the hygroscopic structure of the material allowing adsorption and penetration of water vapor. Depending on the environment, it may cause condensation of vapor in the chambers and the "fogging" of panel. This phenomenon is considered to be a natural property and not a defect in accordance with EN 14963 (Annex A, paragraph A.3.6) and can therefore not be covered by safeguards.

By default, panels are provided with sealing tape at both ends of the panel, which limits moisture penetration into the panel and greatly reduces condensation and panel misting.

Standard packaging - road transport

In order to increase the transport capacity, the panels are placed on polystyrene blocks and the wooden pallets are stored on external pages (i.e., trapezes) to each other. The walls of the bundle are protected by foamed polystyrene boards. The entire bundle is wrapped in a polyethylene film.


Delivery

Unless otherwise stated, all panels are delivered by road to the building site.
The customer is responsible for unloading. More detailed information on the transport, handling and storage of panels for delivery to the construction site can be found in the Technical Guide brochure or, if requested, at Kingspan Technical Department.

Unloading and handling

The consignee is obliged to ensure proper unloading takes place in accordance to the handling instructions available on the bundles. It is the transporter's responsibility to enter a record of a delivery note containing the handling method used.

When manipulating the panel bundles, it is necessary to follow the storage and handling instructions contained in each bundle of panels.

To ensure the safe assembly of the panel bundles, appropriate mechanisms and aids (especially depending on the length of the panels), spacers, textile straps, etc. should be used.

Storage

Roof lighting panels must be stored in such a way as to protect them from weather, such as rain, sun, etc. The protective cover film should not be removed from the parcels until they are ready for installation.

If the illuminated panel is already unpacked, it must be protected against weathering, especially against water and moisture, and thus should be protected until it is assembled as described below. The non-assembled illuminating panel should not be exposed to rain and weather conditions!

Kingspan's warranties are assessed individually for each project, and are dependent on the suitability, type, and aggressiveness of the environment.
