Hotel Novotel Brisbane

Due to Australia’s hot and humid climate, the key element in the design for this project was superior performance insulated panels.

The Project

Noel Robinson Architects wanted to maximise the flow of natural light into the building whilst simultaneously restricting heat exposure. The solution was Kingspan’s Mini-Micro panel. This panel combines aesthetics with high performance insulation, making it the perfect choice for this project located in Brisbane.

Superior Solutions

Due to all the heat and heavy rain that Western Australia experiences, Wirtgen needed a system that would be able to withstand such extreme conditions. Kingspan’s insulated gutters were chosen due to their superior thermal performance and their ability to create an enhanced syphonic drainage system. These gutters are LPCB certified to LPS 1181 Grade EXT-B and offer U-values of 0.35W/m2K and 0.21W/m2K for 60mm and 100mm thicknesses respectively. The insulated gutters integrated with the Trapezoidal Roof, Mini-Micro and Ultra-Temp panels and provided the finishing touches to this building envelope.

Building Protection

Ensuring the safety of all hotel guests and visitors was a major concern during the construction of this project. The hotel is comprised of 156 suites and can house up to 300 people. It was therefore important to install superior FireSafe panels with the ability to provide maximum protection to all hotel guests in the event of a fire. The Mini Micro panels installed are LPCB and FM approved, offering total peace of mind for hotel guests and building owners.

Future Proofed

Reducing the hotel’s operational costs was a key consideration which was incorporated into the design of this project. Since energy prices are set to soar, installing energy efficient panels can counteract the effects of these costs, and ultimately future proof the building. The Mini Micro panels can achieve an energy rating of A+ and significantly reduce operational costs for any business. These panels were an investment for the Novotel Hotel’s future and will enable it to operate much more efficiently.
