pre-insulated rigid hvac ductwork is much lighter than traditional GI ductwork

Low weight insulated HVAC ductwork can incur numerous diverse benefits on a building project, particularly refurbishment / retrofit projects.

Overview

Benefits of low-weight pre-insulated HVAC ductwork include:

  • Easier installation and much lower associated handling costs
  • Reducing the risk of exceeding the maximum manual handling and lifting limits for an individual in the workplace, as recommended by many health and safety regulatory authorities
  • Reducing the requirement for specialised mechanical handling and lifting equipment
  • Installing lighter supports at smaller centers
  • Alleviating the requirement for additional structural support in buildings undergoing refurbishment

Results

The findings of an analysis of the weights of differing insulated HVAC ductwork specifications, both designed to meet the same performance standards, show that ductwork fabricated from The Kingspan KoolDuct System can weigh up to 75% less than ductwork constructed from galvanized sheet steel insulated with mineral fibre duct wrap.
