Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment (DCCAE), Denis Naughten T.D. announced a shift in the Government funded energy efficiency schemes.  The range of grants has been extended and according to the Irish Times the SEAI believes 1.7 million householders may avail of funds to help sustainable energy use.

Grants for external wall insulation have been increase with levels ranging from €2,750 to €6,000. With properly insulated walls saving the average home owner €600 per year on heating bills, this is good news.

From April this year, a new grant of €3,500 for heat pumps will also be available, while grants for fossil fuel boilers have been discontinued as a critical part of decarbonising Ireland.
