Kooltherm insulation can be used for nearly all applications:  Full Kooltherm product range

Building with Kooltherm

Did you know?
The new Kingspan Kooltherm K100 series has an even better thermal performance than the first generation. This means that you'll either benefit from reduced heating / cooling demand or create more space with thinner boards, for example in an attic conversion.

Information and ideas

You ask, we answer

What is Kooltherm made of?

Kooltherm insulation boards have a fiber–free rigid thermoset phenolic insulation core with a thermal conductivity as low as 0.018 W/mK. The closed cell structure makes it resistant to the passage of water vapour.

How is Kooltherm phenolic insulation made?

The rigid thermoset foam forms an insulating core between two facing elements. At the start a wet foam insulation mix is added to the bottom layer of facing. It then expands to meet the top layer. As it dries the foam bonds to the facings. The foam is then cooked under pressure before curing and hardening it.
Both Kooltherm and PIR are rigid foam insulation materials.

The Kooltherm range of insulation boards is an advanced phenolic insulation and is the thinnest commonly usd insulation board for any specific U-value. This means that you can benefit from reduced heating or cooling demand or use thinner boards and gain more space in your building.

The Therma range of insulation boards is a Polyisocyanurate (PIR) insulation. As well as being cost-effective, PIR insulation is amongst the more thermally efficient insulation commonly used.
  Thermal conductivity Applications
Kooltherm (Phenolic) As low as 0.018 W/m·K. It can be used in a variety of roof, wall and floor applications, which makes it a great solution for a range of constructions.
Therma (PIR) As low as 0.022 W/m·K. PIR insulation is often used on flat roof applications, due to its durability and compatibility with a variety of waterproofing methods. However it can also be used in a wide range of further applications.
