When the new Convention Centre Dublin opened in the Docklands in 2010, the building did not only transform the Dublin skyline, it transformed the roadmap for building convention centres around the world.
As the world’s first carbon-neutral convention centre, the €416 million facility is internationally recognized as a landmark development in sustainable construction techniques.
Working behind the scenes, the contractors installed a range of Kingspan Insulation superior high performance thermal insulation technologies including NSAI and BBA Approved Kingspan Thermawall TW55. Easy to install, Kingspan Thermawall TW55 is suitable for use with timber and steel frame wall constructions.
Recognising the unique structure of the building and the challenges it presented to architects and specifiers in its construction, Kingspan’s tapered insulation was an obvious build solution.
From the initial roof survey, Kingspan Insulation’s CAD drawing system was employed to translate and realize the requirements of the build so that the award winning Convention Centre could be fitted with Kingspan tapered Insulation – thus reducing heat loss and condensation risk.
In addition, Kingspan Kooltherm K10 Soffit Board was also used within the build. Specifically developed to deliver superior insulation for structural ceilings (soffits), Kingspan K10 Soffit Board provides a continuous insulation solution, off the critical construction path, while ensuring that fire performance is not compromised.
