Dubbed “The Scalpel” due to its upright blade-like shape, 52 Lime Street is home of the European headquarters of the global insurance business, W. R. Berkley Corporation.
Constructed in 2017, the Scalpel serves as a reminder of a rich history of commerce at the heart of London’s main financial centre, and a symbol of a successful future. The project also created a public square to boost the existing precinct around the building. Alongside the new public square, the historic Lime Street Square was restored and given a new life in this buzzing financial precinct.
The building and square are sites of public engagement. The project used more than 36,000 square metres of Kingspan Access Floors' RMG panels, and a further 72 square metres of high-performance FDEB38 panels.
