Embodying the ethos
Wild & Native is a family-run, award-winning restaurant, offering its customers the chance to taste the best local produce. With a reputation for one of the best places to eat in the area, its property in Rosslare Strand soon needed expanding.
From its opening in 2016, owners Chef Fergal and Restaurant Manager Jodie Dempsey had a vision to create a different dining experience. Staying true to its name, they wanted to ensure their business celebrated and respected the natural produce of Ireland— in particular the local Wexford area. When it came to renovating and expanding the restaurant in 2021, it was important that the plans also followed this passion.
They chose to use insulated panels reclaimed from a demolition project for the roof. In addition to being cost effective, this approach helped to reduce the carbon impact of the project whilst providing the clean and simple finish needed for the restaurant. Steel-faced PIR core insulated panel systems provide durable thermal and structural performance, their rigid, single component construction enables the panels to be dismantled easily, making them well suited for reuse projects such as this.
The external face and flashings boast a terracotta coating, helping the extension to blend in with the surrounding buildings. The renovation has been well received by customers and will help the business to continue to go from strength to strength in the future.
