Last month, our Troldtekt colleagues were presented with the prestigious HRH Crown Prince Frederik International Business Award, which honours companies that promote Danish exports and recognises those who place sustainability at the heart of their operations and solutions.

Troldtekt A/S – which joined the Kingspan family earlier this year – was selected by the esteemed jury in the ‘Green Solutions’ category, acknowledging the company’s success in entering the German market, its pioneering sustainable acoustic solutions, and its climate impact commitments, which include reducing emissions and resource consumption.

Central to the decision to honour Troldtekt was the company’s focus on the circular economy and strategic work with the Cradle-to-Cradle design concept over the past decade. The concept allows Troldtekt’s wood-based acoustic panels to be safely recycled and returned to the biological cycle as a soil conditioner. Furthermore, earlier this year, Troldtekt launched acoustic panels that are manufactured using a newly patented cement type that has a reduced carbon footprint.

The award was presented to Jesper Kvist, Country & Business Development Manager and Tina Kristensen, Head of Sustainability – representing German subsidiary Troldtekt GmbH and Troldtekt A/S respectively – by HRH Crown Prince Frederik at a ceremony that took place at Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen on Friday 26th August.

The export award is presented in a collaboration between the Royal Danish Court, the Danish Export Association and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, chaired by HRH Crown Prince Frederik.

Commenting on the award, Tina Kristensen, Head of Sustainability at Troldtekt A/S, said
Words cannot describe how proud we feel to be receiving the HRH Crown Prince Frederik International Business Award for our efforts. Germany is a market that holds huge potential for Danish construction companies. Like in Denmark, clients in Germany are ready to invest in documented sustainable building materials. On its part, Troldtekt has gone all-in to build a nationwide German sales organisation that understands the industry, culture and, not least, German architects.
And on receiving the award, Jesper Kvist said
The award confirms that we’ve made the right decision in building up a local German sales organisation that is upholding our Danish values. It is a huge honour to receive such an eminent award in such a distinguished company. It is a great boost to our continued growth in Germany.
Highlighting the importance of the company’s efforts, the Danish Export Association noted “Troldtekt’s German subsidiary has seized a golden opportunity to not only contribute to reducing emissions and resource consumption but to make a positive climate impact.”

Globally, buildings are responsible for 39% of energy-related carbon emissions (when compared with other sectors), and the materials and construction phase of buildings in particular is responsible for 11% of such emissions. So, efforts such as those pioneered by Troldtekt, through its bio-based products and its own sustainability strategy, are key to driving change.

As a Group, we are committed to decarbonising the built environment through our ten-year Planet Passionate sustainability strategy which aims to reduce the carbon footprint of buildings and achieve ambitious scope 1,2 and 3 GHG emission targets. The acquisition of Troldtekt earlier this year forms part of the Kingspan Group’s wider expansion into products made with new bio-based materials, which - alongside other product innovations to reduce embodied carbon - can go some way to help us achieve our bold sustainability goals over the coming years.

Congratulations again to the entire Troldtekt team.
