We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the Byggeriet's prestigious Climate Prize, and feel incredibly proud of this esteemed achievement. The Award ceremony took place in the fitting setting of the Blox building in Copenhagen – a building which itself uses Kingspan insulation.

Multiple factors helped us achieve the 2020 Climate Award
We can attribute achieving this prestigious Climate Award to our ambitious "Net Zero Energy" target, which has focussed on making Kingspan factories across the globe, CO2 neutral. We’re on target to achieve Net Zero Energy by the end of 2020.

Our new "state of the art" Kooltherm factory in Sweden of 18,000 m2 is close to completion and will supply insulation to the Nordics. The factory will produce its insulation using 100% renewable energy sources.

• Heating takes place via a local and renewable district heating plant, and most of the production is powered by waste or biofuel, which is free of CO2

• Heat recovery utilises the energy in the exhaust air to heat the fresh air that is blown back into the building

• Solar panels will soon be installed

• Plastic waste and paper will be recycled, and production waste will be used as fuel for energy plants

• A mixture of solar, wind, water and bioenergy, the electricity powering the plant is 100% renewable

The construction industry is one of the biggest contributors to carbon emissions
Not only are we at the forefront of reducing CO2 emissions at our own factories, we are also helping our customers around the world reduce their energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions through our energy-saving solutions, thereby contributing to further environmental improvements.

Construction is one of the major carbon emitting culprits, accounting for almost 40% of the world's CO2 emissions, so it is not insignificant which insulation manufacturer and type of insulation you choose when you undertaking a new build or renovation.

For almost 50 years now, we have been delivering energy-efficient solutions to buildings around the world, and in Denmark, where we have one of the most strict energy requirements in the world, the demand for our energy-efficient products is steadily increasing. We constantly innovate and develop our  products, continuously striving to significantly reduce built environment emissions by enabling the optimal efficiency of a building, providing maximum utilization of space and up to 40% extra daylight.

Planet Passionate - our global sustainability program

At the end of 2019, we launched our 10-year global sustainability Planet Passionate program, which aims to three major global issues:

• Climate change

• Circularity

• Protection of our natural world

By setting goals in the areas of energy, carbon, circularity and water, we strive to make significant progress in terms of sustainability, both in our business operations and our products.
