Kingspan celebrates BENCHMARK with ‘Year of Colour’ campaign

24 May 2018 Kingspan Group
BENCHMARK by Kingspan have recently announced their ‘Year of Colour - a celebration of colour! The year will pay homage to the enormous palette of shades and materials on offer from the architectural facades manufacturer. The architectural systems combine the high performance, tested Kingspan panel systems with innovative rainscreen façade technology allowing designers to create beautiful innovative building facades without compromising on performance.
The ‘Year of Colour’ campaign heralds the launch of the BENCHMARK colour book to be published later this year. The book showcases 160 colours and coatings available for metal cassettes - from high gloss, matt or satin to the more unusual coatings that replicate materials such as zinc or corten with amazing accuracy.  Rainscreen cassettes such as Dri-Design are manufactured at the Kingspan facility in North Yorkshire where they are also coated on the Qualicoat approved powder coating line, the only fabricator to have the facilities to do this in-house.
A blog will explore a colour or metal each month, looking at its use in architecture from the achromatic black and white of the Taj Mahal to the modern trend towards the more industrial with materials such as corten / weathered steel. The team have chosen projects from their broad portfolio to showcase the colour/materials use within BENCHMARK’s systems. More about these projects can be seen in their Ideas Book
9 of these projects have been chosen to further explore the use of colour/material and will be interpreted by graffiti artists Mikk Murray and film maker Tim Glasby.
Head of Marketing for Kingspan BENCHMARK CEER & West, Kirsch Bowker, explains why a graffiti artist was enlisted to help with the Year of Colour.
Many of these buildings are in themselves a work of art, so what better way to highlight this than for an art form that is synonymous with buildings – graffiti? Tim’s gritty filming adds to the atmosphere, so we don’t simply have the physical canvas we’re also left with a digital record of the creation.
The aim is for these graffiti canvases to be exhibited at Kingspan’s Design Hub in The Building Centre, London at the end of the year. Guests will be invited to not only admire the creations but also to help raise much needed funds at a charity auction of the canvases. More details to follow. The Design Hub is open to the public throughout the year with samples of BENCHMARK and Kingspan wall and roof systems on display.
