Kingspan prides itself on its focus on technical expertise, how do you think your career helps to demonstrate this?
As a R&D Chemist, my role is highly dispersed and everything I do makes use of my chemical knowledge. My role involves developing existing products and assisting processing, research and design of new insulation products using alternative / more sustainable chemistries. Good ideas come from keeping up-to-date with current literature and patents on polymeric / organic chemistry within the realm of insulation. Kingspan is highly focused on continuously improving the technical foundations of its products, which is how it leads the market.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
Working on highly visible, cost-effective projects that will make a valid contribution to Kingspan and seeing those projects come to fruition.
How has Kingspan helped you to develop as a person?
I moved straight from academic study into a motivating and industrial environment. I understand how a small development in a lab can become the next product on the market, this comes with great responsibility and commitment. My manager Vincent Coppock, has inspired me to continue to persevere and achieve my goals diligently with forward thinking. I am honoured to have such a good manager. I would also like to thank my Managing Director,Tony Scott, who has established a strong R&D department.
