A flat roof is almost level in contrast to a pitched roof. The flat roof is more popular in countries with warmer climates, where heavy rainfall and freezing temperatures are less likely to occur. However, flat roofs are still used in commercial buildings all around the world. They can also be found in domestic settings such as garage roofs.

In this course, we’ll take a look at the different types of flat roof constructions and the Building Regulations that govern them in England, Wales and Scotland. You’ll learn about different deck types, waterproofing systems and ways of creating a fall. We’ll then take a look at some cost analysis into different ways of creating a fall for flat roof drainage, and finally we’ll finish up with looking at OPTIM-R, the thinnest possible solution for flat roofs.
