Kooltherm K118 Insulated Plasterboard is part of the Kooltherm K100 range, which means it has a lambda value of just 0.018 W/m·K across all thicknesses. This means that you will typically need a thinner amount of insulation to achieve the same level of thermal performance as a thicker comparative insulation.

Here are the thicknesses required for commonly used insulation materials to achieve the same level of thermal perfomance:

Lambda (W/m·K) Type of insulation Thickness
0.018 Kingspan Kooltherm K100 range 55 mm
0.020 Kingspan Kooltherm 60 mm
0.022 PIR 65 mm
0.034 Rock mineral fibre 100 mm
Thickness of insulation to achieve an R-value of 2.857 m²·K/W.
Thicknesses are rounded up to the nearest 5 mm.
