Bauhaus Rosetti Place

Bauhaus at Rossetti Place

Bauhaus at Rossetti Place, Manchester benefits from Kingspan Kooltherm K15 Rainscreen Cladding with a black foil face rather than traditional silver.

The Project

This £40 million development from Crosby Lend Lease, was the first truly ‘mixed-use’ development in Manchester and is situated just a short stroll away from many of the city’s finest bars and eateries and offers views that include the pleasant green seclusion of St Johns Gardens and the famous Coronation Street set. Rossetti Place incorporates large offices and residential accommodation within one single development site - including a new public pedestrianised street.

Product:
Kingspan Kooltherm K15 Rainscreen Board
Location:
Manchester
Architect:
Aedas
Architects, Aedas required an insulation product that would meet their performance criteria for this prestigious development (in terms of thermal and fire performance, Ecohomes requirements, cost and weather resistance) when utilised behind areas of aluminium and timber rainscreen.

The timber rainscreen elements were designed with ‘weathered’ open joints which would otherwise render the silver foil-faced insulation behind visible from the ground. The incorporation of the black foil-faced Kingspan Kooltherm K15 Rainscreen Board overcame the problem and assisted on maintaining this detail.

In response to meeting strict government targets on delivering sustainable development, more projects are adopting panelised or pre-fabricated rainscreen envelope designs to assist in speeding up the construction process. The flexibility of these designs can be complemented by the introduction of K15 which, in its ‘black foil faced’ form has permitted us to adopt it behind open-jointed rainscreen systems as demonstrated at Rossetti Place.

Mark Purslow - Senior Architect, Aedas
Kingspan Kooltherm K15 Rainscreen Board is a premium performance rigid phenolic insulation board, designed for use behind rainscreen cladding systems. This lightweight product achieves a thermal conductivity as low as 0.020 W/m·K and addresses the stringent safety requirements of a public building with a Class O / Low Risk fire rating and negligible smoke obscuration. The product is also unaffected by air infiltration and is resistant to the passage of water vapour.

Kingspan Insulation offers an extensive range of insulation solutions for both new build and refurbishment projects. Specifiers, stockists and contractors are supported with a comprehensive and free technical advisory service.
