As part of a major regeneration project in the London Borough of Havering, KTS was commissioned by Hill to build 75 new affordable homes, on 25 redundant garage sites across the borough.
Many of the sites were at the end of roads no larger than 3 meters wide. The sites were in existing residential developments and surrounded by occupied omes. Craneage, delivery and waste removal were a challenge. However, by working with our accredited construction partners, these challenges were overcome and the new homes were built with minimal disruption to the local community.
The two and three bedroomed homes have been constructed using the Kingspan Logic pre-insulated timber frame system; a proven techology which benefits from the latest in thermal bridging modelling. This off-site method of construction not only provided a cost and time effective option for the new housing but also provide the energy efficient building envelopes that the project demanded using a 'fabric'first, fit and forget' approach.
Kingspan Logic provided a proven construction solution for the restricted access available across most of the small brownfield sites. The rapid off-site build system limited disruption to existing residents and reduced waste when compared to masonry methods of construction.
Built to Lifetime Homes standards, the new homes can be easily adapted in the future to accommodate for the changing needs of residents.
Kingspan Timber Solutions have been our top timber frame supplier for a number of years. They were open in terms of the use of layouts, and that flexibility is an important part of the relationship we've had with them. We know they are capable in both design and engineering and flexible in delivering what we want from them.
