  • Liquid fertiliser is far better than solid fertiliser: it is more effective and more efficient
  • Storing it in bulk saves farmers both time and money
  • Kingspan has launched its new AgriMaster® 25 000L; a liquid fertiliser tank with the smallest footprint in the market

A new 25,000 litre AgriMaster® tank from Kingspan, specifically designed for bulk storage of liquid fertiliser, has been hailed as a major step forward for farmers. Liquid fertiliser is a highly-concentrated ammonium nitrate solution which is applied both pre-sowing and as a top dressing to cultivated plants and permanent grasslands.

It is both the most popular and the most effective form of fertiliser, thanks to its fast, and long-lasting effect, its precise and even application, and because it is a great deal easier to apply than solid forms of fertiliser. The ability to store large quantities of liquid fertiliser on-site offers famers many advantages, notably in terms of the considerable savings it offers, in both time and money.

It also means farmers spend less time reordering new stocks, and allows them to buy wholesale, off-season, when the price is typically lower.

However, storing liquid fertiliser for any length of time isn’t straightforward.   First, the corrosive and caustic nature of the product requires specialist containment.  What’s more the wrong storage conditions, notably temperature highs and lows, can seriously impair it, reducing its effectiveness and potentially damaging equipment. There is also the problem of where to put a tank big enough to store thousands of litres of fertiliser, given the amount of space this would normally take up on the yard.

Kingspan’s AgriMaster® range of bunded liquid fertiliser tanks solve both problems.  First, the tanks have been specially constructed for the safe storage of liquid. They are manufactured from high-quality polyethylene which is resistant to structural damage, as well as changing weather conditions and UV radiation, while ensuring all national and international storage regulations for liquid fertiliser are met.

But the real advance in the range is the development of a new 25,000 litre model with the smallest footprint of any on the market, at just 2.5 metres diameter.  So, despite its considerable size and capacity, the tank only takes up a limited amount of space in the yard.

“We’re delighted that over the last five years, AgriMaster® has become a market-leading liquid fertiliser tank,” says Janusz Niedbalski, Kingspan Commercial Director.

“In response to farmers’ feedback, we’ve developed a 25,000 litre model, which, thanks to its smart design, has a very small footprint.  That means more farmers will be able to take advantage of its greater capacity because they will be able to accommodate it on their premises.  So they can then schedule their buying avoiding times of the year when demand peaks and prices tend to be highest. They can also easily take delivery of a full tanker of liquid fertiliser for long-term use, rather than having to organise regular top-ups.”

AgriMaster® tanks are easily transportable and are either bunded (double-skinned) or single-skinned construction.  All are fitted with an overfill alarm to reduce the risk of spills.

What’s more, unlike steel tanks which can rust and become something of an eyesore, AgriMaster® tanks retain their appearance over time, and are very easy to maintain.

Kingspan can arrange professional installation, along with up to 10 years’ warranty for bunded tanks and for the first time, a 10 year warranty on single-skinned tanks as well, post-sale service options and customer service, all of which help to underpin AgriMaster®’s high performance rating.
