HP Wynyard Data Centre

Cooled by North Sea air

HP's data centre in Wynyard, near Newcastle is among the most efficient in the world, thanks to its use of North Sea air cooling rather than refrigeration to keep servers cool.

Project details

We supplied over 5,500sq m of FDEB38 extra heavy grade panels in data halls 1-4 to support tonnes of server equipment and many miles of cabling. Installation of the raised floor was completed in just ten weeks by our approved installer, Connaught.

HP says the cooling techniques used in the Wynyard site will help them cut the building’s CO2 emissions by 12,500 metric tons and reduce energy consumption by 25,000 megawatt hours per year. The building design also allows HP to obtain a power usage effectiveness (PUE) rating of 1.16, consistent with the most efficient data centres in the industry.
