Brent Civic Centre

Cost-neutral building

Completed in 2013, Brent Civic Centre in Wembley houses Brent Council’s offices and public facilities, including Wembley Library, the busiest reading room in London and third most used in Britain.

Project details

We installed over 19,000sq m of RMG600 panels in offices, foyer, communications room, library and community café. The café features panels bonded with Domus composite stone tiles. The finished floor height ranges from 250mm to 600mm, to accommodate a range of ductwork, pipework and data cabling.

The council estimates that by consolidating its operations into one site, it has secured a £100 million building that is cost-neutral to the taxpayer. The council says it will make further savings of as much as £4 million per year. It is a pioneering model that other local authorities will seek to emulate.
