Our BS EN Range - Europe & Rest of World

The specification for Europe & Rest of World

BS EN 12825 is designed to ensure that all European manufacturers are able to classify their products under a single standard, irrespective of their performance. It is a therefore a method of comparing raised flooring performance using common test criteria.

The extensive classification index can be used to drive a detailed specification for any building.

Significantly BS EN 12825 does not require manufacturers to provide independent test data. The emphasis is placed on the manufacturer to self-certify their test results and guarantee product performance against the defined measures.

European standard for raised access flooring

BS EN 12825 has six classifications of ultimate load, ranging from >4kN to >12kN. There is then a choice of a safety factor of 3 or 2. For each of these ultimate load and safety factors, three maximum deflections under working load conditions are available - 2.5mm, 3.0mm and 4mm.

Ultimately the standard creates 72 classes from which to select. The complexities involved in writing a specification can be arduous and there is scope for misinterpretation. Our Technical Specification Team are always available to help advise on selecting a raised access flooring system that is suitable for your building project.
