Title: Business Development Manager
Location: Leuze-en-hainaut, Belgium
Reporting: Managing Director
Period: October 2019

  • Active approach and relationship management of the (potential) network.
  • In accordance with Sales, managing major Key Accounts direct concerning e.g. products improvements, technical applications and developing customer based products.
  • Be the technical commercial link between the customer requirements and the companies’ capabilities.
  • Exploring new markets and opportunities for products, concepts and systems.
  • Working on development projects from the initial brief, through the design and development stages to the testing of one or more prototypes, right through to final manufacturing of the components.
  • Prepare engineering analysis of projects to include preliminary design, calculation, life cycle cost and equipment selection.
  • Guidance and counselling of projects from sketch to production phase.
  • Collect and share market information.
  • Active tracking of product knowledge and developments.
  • Discussing developments with local and divisional R&D teams.
  • Developing solutions and implementing plans related to development projects, giving input to the manager about progress and provisional results and making proposals/recommendations to adjust planning when necessary.
  • Communicating with suppliers to propose product improvements or adjustments.
  • Bringing new ideas and co-operate to further the development of technical know-howTake the commercial lead when bringing new developed products to the market.
  • Co-operating with all departments involved in the start-up of new product applications.
  • Co-operating with other product development resources (local and inter-company) to
  • promote the development of research projects and to reach the necessary synergies.Accompany sales colleagues during visiting customers for technical support.
  • Evaluate together with sales department identified projects.
  • Manage Project list on a weekly basis.
  • Manage effective customer relationships especially concerning technical issues.
  • Customer visits in accordance with new enquiries received and evaluate their potential business.
  • Develop a technical knowledge to enable specification to favour our products.
  • Education as Industrial Engineer Electro-Mechanics with a minimum of 5 years relevant
  • experience OR previous experience in a relevant BDM or Commercial (Project) role
  • Experience in a direct Customer Relation role.
  • Work as part of a team and/or on own initiative.
  • Negotiating skills for achieving maximum margin on KDC’s volume.
  • Presentation skills – 1 to 1 /1 to 50 (Power-point)
  • Product knowledge is current and accurate.
  • Manage own time to ensure effectiveness of both roles.
  • Very good knowledge of French and English language, Dutch is an asset.
  • Experienced user of MS Office and CRM software.
  • Expertise in analytical skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills to lead others and collaborate in team environment.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and oral, for professional reports and presentations.
  • Customer focus and commercial attitude (can do mentality)
  • Well organized.
