  • PowerPanel is an integrated roofing and photovoltaic (PV) solution for pitched roofs – and is one of the first systems globally to earn the FM Approved mark to FM 4478.

  • The new PowerPanel system is the latest step forward in Kingspan's strategy to integrate solar technology with innovative building materials and improve the accessibility and efficiency of renewable energy for customers.

  • The launch follows Kingspan’s strategic partnerships with leading solar energy companies including Solen Energy and LONGi.

  • Driven by its Planet Passionate programme, Kingspan is making critical moves to enhance the environmental performance of its product portfolio.

Kingspan Insulated Panels, part of Kingspan Group, today celebrates the launch of PowerPanel – an integrated roofing and photovoltaic (PV) solution designed for pitched roofs.

PowerPanel is one of the first systems globally to earn the FM Approved mark to FM 4478, meeting rigorous performance tests for fire, hail, wind uplift, and snow loading. The system was independently tested by FM Approvals, marking a major step forward in the durability of integrated solar PV solutions.

The innovative system combines the thermal efficiency of Kingspan’s industry-leading QuadCore insulated panels with advanced solar technology, delivering U-values as low as 0.11 W/m²K and energy output up to 475Wp using lightweight dual-glass monocrystalline PV modules from LONGi, a world leader in solar manufacturing.

Manufactured in the UK using state-of-the-art robotics, PowerPanel ensures precision and reduces the risks of on-site installation, blending high performance with a sleek, slimline design to enhance building aesthetics.

For added assurance, PowerPanel includes a comprehensive Kingspan PowerPanel Assured Warranty, covering thermal and structural performance, external coatings, and photovoltaic modules.

The launch of PowerPanel marks an important milestone in Kingspan’s strategy to integrate solar technology with innovative building materials, paving the way for more sustainable building and energy solutions that will have a demonstrable effect on improving energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The move follows Kingspan’s strategic partnership with LONGI and the acquisition of solar, EV, and electrical distributor Solen Energy by Kingspan’s Insulated Panels division, both announced in 2024.

Sandra Del Bove, Group Head of Innovation at Kingspan said: “PowerPanel embodies our commitment to innovation—insulate and generate. We believe that every Kingspan roof should come with integrated photovoltaic technology, making renewable energy a standard, not an afterthought. This launch is a key step toward that vision, ensuring greater accessibility and efficiency for our customers.”

Kingspan’s Planet Passionate Sustainability Programme is the driving force behind its efforts to enhance the environmental performance of its product portfolio. Through the programme, Kingspan has also made significant investment in solar PV systems to increase its on-site renewable energy generation and reduce its own direct GHG emissions, with solar PV systems installed across 57% its of wholly-owned sites by the end of 2024.
