Dolan Delivers in Figaro Opener

Tom Dolan, skipper of the Kingspan Figaro, delivered a standout performance to win the opening stage of La Solitaire du Figaro Paprec, confirming his status as one of the race’s leading competitors.
La Solitaire du Figaro Paprec is contested over three stages, with the overall winner decided on cumulative time. The fleet starts together on each stage, and the next stage begins on Sunday, the 24th of May.
Dolan made his decisive move late in the opening stage, positioning himself to the north of a tightly packed leading group that included Loïs Berrehar, Nicolas Lunven and Paul Morvan. From there, his pace proved decisive. Through the night, he steadily extended his lead, combining sharp strategy with exceptional boat speed to take control of the fleet.
By the finish, Dolan had built a commanding margin of 37 minutes and 34 seconds over Berrehar, reflecting both tactical precision and sustained speed. Morvan completed the podium, adding to the intensity at the front of the race.
This victory carries added significance for Dolan, who was forced to abandon the 2025 race following a wrist injury sustained during the opening stage. His return to winning form marks a strong statement of resilience and determination.
Speaking after the victory, Tom said: “Last year I was really at rock bottom, forced to retire, and it was a difficult period overall, so I was a bit nervous about coming back to Vigo. But now that’s all behind me, the score is settled. I can come back to Vigo on holiday now.”
With two stages still to come, the overall result remains wide open. But Dolan heads into the next phase with momentum, confidence and a valuable early advantage.
