Kingspan MICROHOME Edition 11
Now in its 11th edition, the MICROHOME international architecture competition continues our exploration of architecture at its most refined scale.
The 11th edition of MICROHOME, our fourth collaboration with Buildner, invites participants to design a modular, self-sufficient and energy-efficient microhome with a maximum footprint of 25m². The designs should push boundaries in innovation, functionality and sustainability while addressing real-world challenges such as urban density, affordability and environmental responsibility.
We’re inviting architects and designers to pause and reconsider what is truly essential - focusing on the idea that meaningful design begins not with excess, but with intention. In a world of constant expansion - of cities, technologies and ambitions - this competition asks a simple question: Can less be more? This is not a competition about limitation, but liberation. By working within defined boundaries, architects can rediscover the essence of space, light and form - and propose ways of living that are lighter on the planet yet richer in experience. MICROHOME Edition 11 has now closed for registrations – winners will be announced December 15th.
