Group Board

Gene Murtagh is the Group Chief Executive. He was appointed to the Board in 1999.

Skills & experience

He was previously the Chief Operating Officer from 2003 to 2005. Prior to that he was managing director of the Group’s Insulated Panel business and of the Environmental business. He joined the Group in 1993, and has a deep knowledge of all of the Group’s businesses and wider building materials and energy efficiency industries.

Chairman of the Group, he was appointed to the Board in February 2018 and appointed Chairman in April 2021.

Skills and Experience:
Jost was Chief Executive Officer of Benteler Distribution International GmbH, and was formerly the Chief Sales Officer and a member of the executive board of ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe AG. He has over 30 years' experience in European steel and major manufacturing businesses. He is Chairman of VTG Aktiengesellschaft, and a non-executive director in a number of large private companies. Qualifications: PhD Business Admin.

Senan Murphy was appointed to the Board in October 2022.  

Skills & Experience:
Senan was the Group Finance Director of CRH plc, having previously held positions as Bank of Ireland Group's Chief Operating Officer, and as COO at Ulster Bank and CFO at Airtricity. He has over 30 years' experience in international business across multiple industries including building materials, renewable energy, financial services and banking. 

Éimear Moloney was appointed to the Board in April 2021. 

Skills & Experience:
Éimear was previously a senior investment manager in Zurich Life Assurance (Irl) plc managing asset allocation and various geographic equity portfolios, and has excellent knowledge and experience of capital markets and asset management.

Paul Murtagh was appointed to the Board in April 2021. 

Skills & Experience:
Paul is the Chairman and CEO of Tibidabo Scientific Industries Ltd, and was formerly the Chairman and CEO of Faxitron Biotics LLC and Chairman of Deerland Probiotics & Enzymes Inc.

Louise Phelan was appointed to the Board in April 2023.  

Skills & Experience

Louise was formerly Vice President Global Operations EMEA of PayPal, and is a highly respected business leader and adviser with experience leading global organisations in both the renewable energy and finance sectors.

She is the senior independent non-executive director of Ryanair Holdings plc, and was previously a non-executive director of Voxpro. She is a member of the Irish Government’s Top-Level Appointments Committee (TLAC), and a member of the President’s advisory group at Technological University Dublin. She is also a former President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ireland.

Eavan Saunders was appointed to the Board in May 2025. 

Skills & Experience:

Eavan is the Managing Partner and founder of the Irish office of global law firm Dentons, with over 25 years’ experience as a top-tier corporate lawyer specialising in international M&A and capital markets.

She is admitted as a solicitor in both Ireland and England & Wales.

Anne Heraty was appointed to the Board in August 2019.   

Skills & Experience:
Anne is the founder and former Chief Executive Officer of Cpl Resources plc. She has circa 20 years' experience running an international recruitment and outsourcing business and is currently the non-executive Chair of IBEC.

Viet Dinh was appointed to the Board in February 2026.

Skills & Experience:

Viet is a distinguished US attorney and legal scholar, whose background spans senior roles in US government, private practice, and academia, bringing deep expertise in law, regulation, governance, and risk oversight to the Board. He is a non-executive director of Strategic Education Inc.

Geoff Doherty is the Group Chief Financial Officer. He joined the Group, and was appointed to the Board, in January 2011.

Skills & experience:

Prior to joining Kingspan he was the Chief Financial Officer of Greencore Group Plc, having previously worked in IWP International Plc, PricewaterhouseCoopers and BDO Simpson Xavier accountants in Dublin. He is a qualified chartered accountant with significant experience of financial management in an international manufacturing environment. 

Gilbert McCarthy is Managing Director of the Group’s Insulated Panels businesses in Europe, Asia and Australasia. He was appointed to the Board in September 2011.

Skills & experience:

He has been with the Group for over 13 years, and was previously managing director of the Off-site division and general manager of the insulation board business. He brings to the Board his extensive knowledge of the building envelope industry, in particular in Western Europe and Australasia.

Russell Shiels is president of Kingspan’s Insulated Panels businesses in the Americas as well as the Group’s Data Solutions business globally. He was appointed to the Board in 1996.

Skills & experience:

He was previously managing director of the Group’s Building Components and Raised Access Floors businesses in the UK. He has experience in many of the Group’s key businesses. He brings to the Board his particular knowledge of the North American Building Envelope Market, as well as his understanding of the office and data centre market globally. 

Lorcan Dowd was appointed Group Company Secretary in 2005.

Skills & Experience:
He qualified as a solicitor in 1992. Before joining the Group he was Director of Corporate Legal Services in PricewaterhouseCoopers in Belfast, having previously worked in private practice.
