Net Zero Energy |
Kingspan insulated panels are manufactured at our facilities in Deland, Florida; Modesto, California; Columbus, Ohio; Langley, British Columbia and Caledon, Ontario. By the end of 2020, 100% of the non-renewable operational energy used in manufacturing processes in these sites will be matched through the use of renewable energy and the purchase of renewable energy certificates (to offset any remaining non-renewable energy use). Visit our Kingspan Group website Net Zero Energy area to learn more. |
Net Zero Carbon manufacturing |
Our groupwide aim is to achieve net zero carbon (CO 2 e) emissions (scope 1 & 2) from our manufacturing activities by the end of 2030. For more info, visit Planet Passionate. |
Waste to Landfill |
Across our 5 North American sites, we sent send (54%) of our manufacturing waste to landfill. Our Planet Passionate goal is to send zero waste to landfill from those 5 site by 2030. |
Rainwater harvesting |
Our Planet Passionate goal is to achieve a total of 100 million litres of rainwater harvested groupwide by 2030. |

Green Energy Ratings |
Kingspan is committed to supporting green rating systems such as LEED, the Living Building Challenge, Green Globes, BREEAM and the IGCC (International Green Construction Code – ASHRAE 189.1). Specification of effective systems and materials are key to achieving these certifications. With this in mind, Kingspan is providing a LEED v4 credits guide to assist the building team on how Kingspan Insulated Metal Panels may contribute to overall building performance and ratings requirements. |
EPDs |
Kingspan Insulated Panel 3rd party verified product specifc EPD's by SCS for every product offered in North America. To view our EPDs, please visit our certification page. |
Recycled and/or renewable content |
(Pre Consumer): 17% recycled/renewable content
(Post Industrial): 14% recycled/renewable content
Kingspan can source steel coil with up to 80% recyceld content on request. |
Re-use options |
Kingspan insulated technologies are durable, inert, do not rot and are resistant to moisture. In most cases, the panels are mechanically fixed to the structural frame and therefore can
be easily disassembled and separated from other construction materials. At the end of use phase, we would strongly advocate
for re-use of the panels. Insulated panels have been used at the end of their use phase for other applications. |
End of Life solutions |
Where ‘complete system’ re-use is not possible, insulated panels can
be taken to a conventional shredder plant, which will separate the metal facings from the insulation core. The metal facings are then instantly available for re-use or re-sale. The foam insulation can be re-used when possible. Where re-use is not available, foam can be disposed of via registered ‘energy recovery’ incineration plants. Given long-term trends in raw material prices, landfill costs and future regulation, it is hoped that more recycling/recovery options will be developed and become economically viable in the near future. Industry is pro-actively exploring further options to divert end-of-life foam from landfill. |
Recyclable packaging |
We are exploring both a ‘Packaging Service’ and bio based shipping materials for our customers to participate responsibly recovering Kingspan packaging waste on site in a sustainable way. |
