Kingspan is pleased to announce it is sponsoring Irish track cycle team Kingspan-Trackproject.ie, helping them on their journey trying to qualify for the next Olympic Games, to be held in Tokyo in 2020.
Founded in 2016 by Irish international cyclists Felix English and Fintan Ryan, the team was set up to support Irish riders on the international circuit and give them the best chance of fulfilling their goal of Olympic qualification.
The team recently participated in the prestigious Six Day race series in Berlin, competing in front of 12,000 spectators, with live international TV coverage on Eurosport. They finished 6th out of 16 world class starting teams, but more notably winning Ireland’s first individual event in the series.
Alan Lawlor, Director at Kingspan, commented on the sponsorship. “Kingspan has been a long-term supporter of sport, and we’re delighted to be backing the team’s ambitions to achieve at the highest level on the competitive international cycling circuit.”
“The support Kingspan provide us is invaluable and will help give us a real shot at success on the international circuit, and our ultimate goal of qualifying for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics” replied Felix English, co-founder of Kingspan-Trackproject.ie
Along with their Olympic ambitions the team has also been helping progress the interest and level of track cycling in Ireland. They have been instrumental in teaching the newly announced and Olympic track cycling event of Madison in Ireland.
