Recent events at home and abroad have raised the compliance stakes throughout the Australian building sector. Non-compliance, a failure to adhere to a regulation or Act, and non-conformance, a failure to comply with a requirement or standard, are increasingly laying unnecessary liability and risk at the door of the unwary.
Kingspan Insulation Australia has signed on as the principal partner to underwrite a national seminar series hosted by the Property Council of Australia. Events are scheduled in Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra and Sydney for early September.
“Our support for this Property Council initiative was a no-brainer,” says Australian manufacturer Kingspan Insulation’s Sales Director Craig Burr. “The seminars present a great opportunity to hear from a stellar line-up of experts operating in the frontline areas of fire safety, insurance, property law and perhaps most importantly, the state regulators themselves.”
The events will take the form of brief presentation overviews followed by a moderated panel discussion and a generous Q&A session. Topics such as fire and performance risks of non-compliant or conformant product, third party certification for building materials and the liabilities associated with non-compliance or conformance are sure to feature heavily.
“We hope these events will serve to raise risk awareness around non-compliant or conformant substitution practices that we at Kingspan Insulation witness on a daily basis,” concludes Burr.
