History

1970 - 1980

The Group was founded in the late 1960s as a small engineering business by Eugene Murtagh who was later joined by his brother Brendan in the early 1970s (Eugene is currently the Chairman of the Group while Brendan retired in May 2010). The Group was initially involved in the manufacture of steel frame buildings and structural sections. Later, Kingspan began the manufacture of environmental products on a small scale.

1980 - 1990

During the early 1980s, the Group expanded into the manufacture of Insulated Panels and Insulation products and established numerous manufacturing plants in the U.K. and Ireland. The Group floated on the Irish Stock Exchange in 1989 at a share price of EUR0.20 equivalent with a market capitalization of EUR25.0 million.

1990 - 2000

In the 1990s Kingspan expanded organically and through acquisitions adding facilities and sales companies in the U.K., Benelux, Germany, Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic, providing the Group with additional geographic diversity. Large-scale expansion also occurred across the Group's main operating units.

2000

Since 2000, the Group has continued to grow through expansion and select acquisitions. Kingspan entered the Access Floor market through acquisitions in the U.K. and the USA. In more recent years the Group established a much broader network in Central and Eastern Europe, North America and Australia.
